KWARTET II (2013) by Marijke Appelman & Koen Taselaar, is a modified version of the Dutch card game ‘Kwartet’ – which is not unlike the game ‘Go Fish’ – in which the objective is to collect a complete set or family of cards per given category. The player who completes the most families wins. This version, composed by artists Marijke Appelman and Koen Taselaar and designed by Team Thursday, uses contemporary artworks, grouped by their underlying subject matter or the formal principles used. The game contains families of artworks in the categories: ASHTRAY, BEER PYRAMID, DOORS IN DOORS, DOUBLE SCREEN, DRAWING MACHINE, GRADIENT, OVER THE EDGE, PLANTS, SLEEPING, THE ARTISTS SHOES, TRIANGLE IN CORNER, USED TO SKATE, WATERMELON and WORD VITRINE.
